Been using my Bianchi since purchasing at the end of the Summer.

Had the Defy out last week in the rain and noticed how the saddle is better shaped for me. A ride on my Bianchi today has again emphasised the poor fitting of the saddle to my sit bones.

Assuming that I was to replace the saddle on the Bianchi, is it better to measure myself with the stairs and tin foil trick, or go and get a proper fit done somewhere with the right gizmo?

Can anyone suggest anywhere reasonably close to South Wales by any chance?

The Bianchi has a San Marco Era Dynamic on there as standard. It's altogether a much better saddle than the standard Defy 1 has, but the wrong fit for me it seems.

Higher end Specialized dealers normally have the pads for measuring, call around. There's a Specialized concept store in Bristol for example

Specialized is all I could think of too. Bristol is not a major haul in fairness.

Do they charge more for fitting you?

I didn't pay anything. Didn't buy the saddle then either. Took about 2 mins. You need to have it done in your cycling shorts

Bought a saddle from Edinburgh bikes, very uncomfortable so took it bad.
Young lad that served me said I should be measured, ok wearing anything but jeans (too bulky). Sat on a pad thingy and he pointed me to a suitable saddle, which I bought and has been on mountain and now road bike. Didn't cost anything.

I've only seen the arse kit at the places doing the fits

Phone them or go in ... no need to wonder ;)

Trial and error. Having the right width is a start but not all one size/shapes fits all

I think Specialized do trial saddles etc
