I did that, kept a rag and gloves but still annoying at the moment I carry the minimum that I need. In the past I would even carry a bag filled with everything for every eventuality. You soon learn what you do and do not need.

I get a spare tube, multitool and some self adhesive patches in there, but I reckon a CO2 inflator would also go in (I just carry a mini pump). It's small and tucks right under the saddle.

If I need a bit more, I have a Topeak aero-wedge in medium, into which I can squeeze a waterproof as well

Most of the time I just use a BBB tool bottle, but also use an Ortilieb micro I like it because it doesn't have a velcro strap that goes round the seat stem as I find that these eventually rub and leave a scuff mark on your expensive seat stem....
