Not to sure?
All depends what you are seeking in terms of a workout really? As other have already mentioned rollers are great for core fitness and some quite dramatic improvement on your technique. While turbos can be used for more specific training, especially when using software like TrainerRoad for example.

With the introduction of Zwift last year it has rewritten turbo training with its virtual 3D rides. And now that they have introduced specific training plans it has just got even better.

I bought these ones at the beginning of December. I have nothing to compare them too and I've never used a turbo but these do me well. They take a bit of getting used to (after the first 10 minutes I was ready to pack them up and send them back ) but after a couple of sessions I had got the hang of them.

I can't see anybody getting a better workout on rollers than a turbo. Even if you're not hooked up to one of these reality simulator things like Zwift or Bkool, there are still plenty of great turbo workout videos to follow on youtube. Would rather have some resistance on the turbo than just be spinning away like fook on some rollers. Plus I'd probably end up in hospital from rollers

I think I get a decent work out on my rollers. Ok, you can't vary resistance (not on my cheap ones anyway) but I can vary my speed and cadence to put in 'efforts'. Averaging 155 bpm over 45 minutes to an hour is a decent work out imo. And it's definitely a better workout than sitting on the sofa staring out the window at the ice/snow/wind/rain or whatever it is that's stopping me going outside on my bike.

As for rollers or turbo, well it's all down to whatever works for you. I chose rollers so I didn't have to 'set up' the bike for indoors and then 'un set up' when I want to go out. My time is in demand and if I find time to go out then I just want to grab the bike and go rather than faff on taking it off the turbo etc.

I have a cheap nasty ebay turbo..its noisy andr...
i have a good excersise bike but its not like the bike...

so CCers would Rolle be ok indoors ? Are they noisy...i have no idea about them..
do they feel like your on a ride out..ie you have to focus on steering etc..

or a Turbo..are there such a thing as quiet ones..b quiet i mean a quiet hum and not the cheap nasty loud whrrrrrrr of mine

and what I'll cost for a decent set up..
My wife bought me a similar turbo for Christmas, I've never really thought of owning one but, unlike you, I find it great.
I know its cheep and noisy but I find I can get a really good workout on it. It offers a decent bit of resistance and I feel it will benefit me more, once the better weather arrives, than grudgingly grinding out the miles in the cold and wet.
Got to admit headphones help with the noise!
