Tap a slightly oversize torx bit into the head and you should get it to turn. Small allen screws are a curse, they round if you look at them hard.

Thanks Joe. That sounds like good advice. I will give it a go.

USE alien seatposts are the worst culprit. a Stupidly small 2.5mm allen bolt on the rear of their seatpost clamp. Guaranteed to round off on the first use

That does sound like a lousy idea. Good to know it's not just me, though...

The trouble with small Allen keys is, you think you've put the key in all the way but in fact you haven't and the instant you turn it.....adios bolt head

Insert, wiggle, push, wiggle, push, hold near bend so as not to put too much torque on and gently build the pressure until it moves.

I'd go with the insert oversize torx head in. If that fails I fear LBS with drill will be needed.

Yip, it should work. Sometimes even a small flat screwdriver will do the trick but torque bits seem made for the job. Then, if you do get it out, you'll have job of finding a new one before you can put it back together! :0(

I'll be happy if I can just undo the damn thing. I have a clever inventor friend who makes derailleur hangers and jockey-wheels and stuff for me - he has every kind of nut and bolt known to mankind. Every cyclist needs a clever inventor friend.

Hey Joe. Thanks again for this cunning torx tip. Worked like a dream. I now have remote lockout .

Glad it worked for you.

Torx bit are extremely useful, even though it is possible to go through an entire lifetime without seeing a Torx head screw.
