Corker of an afternoon over here. Cycled over to Burwell Fen on the Lodes Way cycle route in the hope of spotting an owl or two and wasn't disappointed. At least 10 short eared owls showing beautifully in the sunshine from the new bridge over Reach Lode, and a barn owl at dusk. Was with 30' of a short eared owl at one point. These big owls head over to the UK from Scandinavia at this time of year, and this year in record numbers as apparently they've had a good breeding season up there. Well worth the trip and good to see so many bikes out too and have a natter with passers by.

Fantastic, Glow Worm. One of my favourite memories (from about 12 years ago) is of a SEO quartering rough ground at Netherfield - 15 minute walk away from where I live - and just staring at me and my wife before it turned again for its hunt. As in your case, barely 30 feet away. Magic!!!

I'm not very clued into different types of birds of prey. Since I started cycling though I've twice had a fairly large bird of prey, possibly a buzzard, follow me for quite a distance. Not something you ever see in a car.

Yep - an amazing sight and lucky to have such a place on my doorstep- especially as it's a largely traffic free route to get there. The short eared owls are turning up all over the place this autumn, so you might be lucky again.

I was out looking for a lion last Sunday.
I'll let you all google it and have a laugh.

Was that the Red Lion, White Lion or Golden Lion????

Whilst out with the family on Sunday we did manage to see an eagle, well the Eagle and Child pub in Gwaenesgor - lovely pint!!

My usual commute to work usually turns up rabbit, badger, fox, and numerous feathered objects as roadkill.

Live wildlife usual includes pheasants, fox, rabbit, weasel, stoat, polecat, many many other birds, lots of buzzards and the occasional kestrel. My bird highlight was a barn owl one evening - FANTASTIC.

Late nights at work in spring/summer also give me common and soprano pipistrelles, daubenton's bat, natterer's bat and noctule depending on which route I take! Obviously at the moment not many bats about!
