Could you not just fit wider road bars? Easier and cheaper as there's less to replace, no?
she never use the drop part of the bars or the hoods so thought straights as an option .not to worried about price as long as it gets her back out on the bike

Oh also just noticed that if you buy the front and rear shifters separately they cost less than buying them as a pair :wacko:

Mmm those Tiagra R440 shifters actually pull the same amount of (i.e. too much) cable as mtb front shifters (hence very specific front mech requirement - typically they are used on hybrids with road crank ring size and road chainline). The ideal road front shifter for the OP is sora sl-3500, but since he has a double chainset anything will work (by keeping the cable a little slack when on small front just for mechanical sympathy...). So in fact these are the same functionally as the Tiagra, but even cheaper and matches the colour of the brake levers. :thumbsup:

update , went to lbs to keep business local and got a quote from them for £450 +. fitting :eek: . they have lost my business . they said i needed a completely new group set but could sell me this very nice bike for £599.99 if i wanted one

Jeez. When I looked into it, including new front mech, the parts came to £100 & that was my expensive option. Fitting is straightforward as long as you can index gears. Did you go in dressed as Dwayne Dibley?
