Hi all, newbie question coming up!!
I have been cycling for years now but have recently decided to get much more into it. I have tried SPD Pedals on friends bikes in the past but never got on well with them. I recently bought a set of Power Grips pedals and straps, which seem to suit me much better, but have been using them with normal trainers. I am now searching for some proper cycling shoes.
My question is, can I use a cycle shoe which has the ports for cleats, which I know I would remove if I bought a second hand pair? Will they be grippy enough to grip the pedal or would they slip too much as most of these type of shoes look like they have virtually no grip on the sole's!??
Please excuse my ignorance!!

Road shoes with cleat fittings are not designed to be used on any pedals other than those which you can clip into, with cleats fitted. Either stick to trainers or walking shoes, or give the SPDs another try. They really are not difficult to get on with.
