Sidi motorbike boots are amazing, but how do the cycling shoes compare?

FYI I've had Sidi Genius 5 shoes and Sidi Winter boots very similar to THESE.

I regret changing them both, and although I love my current Northwave boots I would go back to Sidi in a heartbeat.

Thanks for confirming what I expected! Cheers. What's the sizing like? I am usually either an 8.5 or a 9 in everyday shoes. Will a 43 suffice, or should I go up a size in the Sidi's?

Typical that they don't have a 44 in either of those! 45 too much of a jump as a guide?

IIRC Wiggle and CRC do free returns on shoes and clothing so that may be an option.

Of course you can always try your LBS

My LBS is Tredz, Wheelies or Halfords. Halfords doesn't need explaining. Wheelies have very little in store at all. Tredz are better display wise, but their pricing is generally RRP and there's a fair difference to online pricing then. Refuse to go in store and get advice and try on, only to then buy online. They say that they price match, but tried that with the helmet I bought and they tried every excuse going about not being the same model and colour, when it blatantly was, and then saying that the competitor had no stock, when it said otherwise too. Would like to support my LBS, but there has to be a smaller deficit surely? Advice and trying a range on, is definitely worth a premium, but it it worth £50 to £100?

Missed a pair of Shimano R133's at Tredz. Hesitated overnight and they were gone. Only 1 pair and turns out that the 43 is the perfect fit. Doh!

They had the R088 and the R107 in stock. Cheaper on their website. Toying with either asking them to price match the R107's or found a pair of R133's online.

Any idea on what the difference between the above are?

Also, has anyone used ACycles.co.uk by any chance? Site looks legit, but its in France by the looks of it. Prices are competitive though!

Can't help with the shoes but check postage on that site. I am sure I looked at it before and found that although the items were cheaper, the postage was high.

Finally sorted things. Tredz kindly agreed to come to a deal on the Shimano R107 shoes and the 105 pedals. Got them both for £100 and collecting tomorrow.

Ribbie had them at £89.90 with their current 10% off deal! but I prefer to buy at my LBS, even if a slight premium. I have to admit that I would not have bought at the full price though. I know people state that we should all support our LBS, and I agree, but there has to be a fair price match especially when it's plastered over their website?

I will certainly recommend Tredz to others, so they win all round, and so do I.

Think I will get the blue n black ones next year, already got 2pairs of the 105 pedals , decent pedals and only slightly heavier than the ultegra but a lot cheaper

I think I have got the R540 pedals, as the 5700 pedals were out of stock everywhere the price was reasonable. Silver available loads, but not the black. The guy said that the difference is the colour is slightly different between the two and that's it. I have a feeling that there's more to it than that, but I plan to buy a second pair of pedals for my old MTB, so will buy the 5700's then and swap them over.

Which have you got? 5700's or R540's? Both are labelled as 105?

I have the 5700, never used the r540s .

A bit of digging online suggests that the R540's have a plastic plate on top, where the 5700's have a steel plate. Therefore, the last longer as the plastic wears quicker. Suits me to start out though, as they're pretty much free pedals on my deal. Will grab 5700's when the black are back in stock though. OCD, I know!
