I must say I don't know whether I shoud be delighted or shocked if a sora front shifter can index and work perfectly with a FD-R443 on a triple chainset - with less cable pull by the shifter than desgined even if clicks can be ratcheted I can't see how the front mech could avoid fouling the chain for the lowest (small front large back) and/or highest (large front small back) gears.
i noticed that the front mech was not indexing correctly whilst setting up the front shifter, and stumbled across setting up the middle chainring first and getting the right cable tension for that, the inner and outer fell into place after that.
i was worried about the front mech as i had been into my LBS, who are giant dealers and had a look at the newer versions of the rapid and defy. the arm of the mech on the defy is definately shorter than the rapid but as i say, the shifting is near perfect (actually better than the old shifters in all honesty) which i doubt is due to my bike mechanic abilities. Whether i just got lucky, who knows, but i will update further along if it all goes pearshaped
