I've never seen the need to be honest, plus I've always been advised to avoid carbon bars, but then again I am a big lad and a few grams weight saving won't make a blind bit of difference to me ;)

I have had a set of Cinelli Ram integrated bars/stem for about 10 years now with no problem at all. My weight has slowly come down from 16 1/2st to just under 15st these days. I bought them because I love the design - they would have been replaced with a newer set except the newer ones don't look as good IMHO (I think the newer graphics are too gaudy!).

Basically, I'd avoid the cheap ones and look for decent quality/known brand items - and remember, it's not abouth the weight - it's about the bling!!! (and they can be more comfortable!)

Are the FSA Plasma bars any good? I mean is FSA a good make for Carbon Road Bars?

FSA is a perfectly reputable brand, if that's what you mean. Can I ask why you specifically want carbon bars..??

Suffer from ore elbows from road vibration.

I broke my scafoid (sp) bone in my wrist a few years back have a metal screw holding it together so its not as strong as it used to be. Cant do press ups etc

I have ordered the FSA Plasma bars. I work in a bike shop so got them at trade, in fact i got then less than trade as the supplier gave me a further 15% off as i work in the trade.

I certainly will. They'll be my first carbon bars so looking forward to using them.

Read a lot of mixed reviews and some from the anti-carbon brigade but I decided to give it a bash and make my own mind up. After all my frame and forks are carbon and I've been rattling them through their paces for nearly 2 years without an issue (touch wood!)

Mr Haematocrit

msg me on kik for android
Got FSA plasma's on one of my bikes, im not over impressed to be honest, they do not feel particulary stiff and do not give you confidence when you really lean hard on them.
I much prefer the feel of Zipp bars or Pro bars

It might be worth pointing out also that a number of people have reported that these bars crack, mine have not I might add but if you google for 'fsa plasma cracking' you can read a number of reports

These two statements seem somewhat at loggerheads, but no matter, I presume you were asking specifically in relation to the bars you've gone on to order, as opposed to FSA as a brand?

Holy cow, I must have broken mine at birth and it's never healed...... I've never been able to press ups ^_^

obviously it's your money and you can buy whatever bars you like - but if vibration is the issue then I think the bars will make sod all difference. You would be better off looking at your tyre choice, together with the pressure you run them at. That will make the single biggest difference to ride quality...

Sorry yeah I was referring to the actual model of the bars rather than the Brand. I'm the only roadie in the place so no-one had tried them out properly. The MD has tried them out briefly at one of the dealer shows in Germany.
