Hi all
After my recent accident I'm looking at getting some new road bike tyres for my cube peloton road.
I'm after tyres with as much grip as possible .
I've seen schwalbe durano plus and conti gatorskins but would appreciate any advice.
I currently have the standard schwalbe Lugano that came with the bike.
Thanks

Depends what your riding in, I rode my Gatorskins through last winter no issues, I didn't ride as much as the previous winter in all that ice and snow, but even then only normal road tyres, so unless your likely to be riding in much snow and ice, just your normal road tyres are fine.

I can confirm the Durano Plus are pretty grippy and also puncture resistant as it's not much fun changing tyres when you can barely feel your fingers. No normal road tyre will be much good on ice though. You really need the spiked tyres for that and I don't know if you can get them in roadie sizes or not??

I've cycled with Gatorskins, GP4 seasons, Duranos and Vittoria Rubino during the winter, I like Duranos and Gatorskins most of all. I wouldn't recommend using Rubinos.

Carry on riding on your Luganos. Just take care in the wet.
When they wear out (which will be a while) consider upgrading to Duranos maybe. I now Luganos do not have a great reputation - possibly as they are so often supplied as original equipment, but I bought one in a sort of emergency last Boxing Day (only Halfords was open and it was the best they had) and cannot fault it.

Were tyres the cause of your accident?

What's the max size tyre you can fit in the frame?

I ride on gatorskins and find them very slippy in the wet. Much care has to be taken on bends, roundabouts, etc. I don't find they inspire much confidence in these conditions but they are puncture proof and i will buy more. You just have to take it steady on these wet slicks.

Ribble Cycles are selling two Veloflex Open Corsas for £52, here: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...-folding-veloflex-corsa-twinpack2/velxtyrf351

I simply cannot praise these tyres enough, they are definitely the best I have ever used and waaay better than even the Michelin Pro 4s I've always used. The grip is astounding in wet and dry and they are astonishingly comfortable at even 10% above my normal pressures. The bike feels planted, secure and accurate. Superb tyres; I won't ever want to go back to any other.

I like gatorskins as a commuter tire but theyncertainly have a harsh ride and not as trippy in th corners. I'm not sure how much know that but I just didn't feel like taking corners as shsrpmornas fast with these tires in the wet when compared to gp4000s.

Personally I don't like gatorskins - very slippy in the wet.
I ride Coni GP4000S or 4 Seasons (depending on the bike) all year round - both excellent tyres.

The Michelin Lithion was always good, but the last ones I had seemed to be more plasticy and have less grip/puncture protection than I remembered, so I switched to 4 seasons,
