Hi all.

Six months ago I purchased my first road bike since I left school and I am wondering though about the bike size and set up. When I go out cycling I quite soon develop an ache at the top of my arms, on the outer muscle area, where they meet the shoulder. It is not extremely painful but the ache continues the entire time I am on the bike. Is this something to do with the bike set-up? What can I do to resolve this?

How do I tell if the bike is actually the correct fit? the shop I purchased it from says it was fine but I am not so sure.

Thanks in advance.

No magic solution. Could be a bike fit problem, or just something your body has to get used to. Takes time and regular riding to build up those muscles.

A side view picture of yourself on the bike might prompt a few suggestions.

Are you maybe riding with your arms rigid and locked out? Try bending a bit more at the elbows and stay relaxed and let the elbows flex slightly with the movement of the bike.

THIS is a good site to start with regrading bike fit.
Thanks smokeysmoo. I have managed to access the link and I will see if the guidance on the site can assist.
