Oh, you're not wrong. About 20 years back I was on duty at Silverstone when he sauntered up with his entourage, camel hair coat draped over his shoulders. No "good morning", "hello", or even so much as a nod he simply demanded "tell XYZ that I'm here to see them."
Well, how rude! I made a point of looking left and right as if to be sure he wasn't talking to someone else, straightened up to emphasise the point that I am not infected with small man syndrome myself, and then replied "certainly Sir, and who should I say is asking for him?" He turned an interesting shade of red.
