My grandad was born 1901 so I think that's 5 or possibly 6 monarchs. I think 6 because he was born in the last days of Queen Vic. Died before KC3 obviously. I liked the idea that he was one of the last of the victoriana!

I was cycling round central London on Monday evening and there was already mega police presence, plus lots of contracted private security for crowd/barrier control.
Just off Parliament Square I saw a Lancashire Constabulary Van - lots of police are being brought in from around the country.
(including some overzealous ones from Norfolk).

It's a public event. A major one.
Watch it as a zen experience if you like - British humanity plus any others who turn up - in all its variety - passing before you.
FFS it's a stream - a camera pointing at something - pretty easy cheap to do.
It will also I think be a historical document - something for the archive.

I know it means a lot to many people but personally I will be glad when it's all over and people can stop repeatedly telling everyone how little it all means to them.

yep that always gets me with stuff of this ilk- folks just going on and on and on and on about how utterly meaningless and unworthy of thought it is.
Fortunately that's why twatter was invented.
so they can mostly do it there.
everything has its purpose in the circle of life.
This is a bit controversial, I have no disrespect for the Queen, and her death is sad but I find all this (IMO) over the top reaction quite disturbing, 3 mile queues to file past a cofin, Paddington Bears and marmalade sandwiches placed in parks, endless questions from reporters asking people how they feel, (do they not interview people who don't feel any differently) the lack of other news, and don't get me started on BCF or Center Parks.
Am I alone in thinking like this, it's just too much.
