For me punctures are more or less routine, I know they'll happen and prepare a solution to them, I certainly wouldn't consider them any sort of emergency

Thanks for the replies. I've put a piece of old inner tube between inner and tyre as a fix. I'm loath to splash out on a new tyre cos the one I've got cost 25quid and has still got loads of life in it. Bought it cos of the 'kevlar lining' for p*ncture resistance!! (Spesh All-Condition Pro).

Kevlar doesn't work. Once something penetrates the tread it will get through to the tube, you are only buying time with a kevlar band and my guess is minutes rather than weeks. A good quality tread that resists cutting is the best puncture protection.

Not being funny, but if the slit is big enough to cause a bulge, then replace..... if bodging, use some emery paper for a TEMP repair.... most slits that don't cause a bulge are OK, but any that do means your tyre is goosed !!!

Stelvios OK - yep........ but I ride Pro Race..............

Puncture protection is rubbish....it leads to a slow and heavy tyre !!! Been there..done it......

Are Schwalbe Stelvios Plus good?

I've never had any bother with my Stelvios at all. Mind you, on my second set in under a year as I got a big gash in the rear which left the inner poking through !

Shouldn't way this but since putting my new set on last year, I've not had one of those things that I shouldn't mention ;)
