Like em or loathe them, but arguably the most famous UK trucking name has passed: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-daily-telegraph-saturday/20241207/282080577414380
His name lives on though.
The company he started is now a global brand.
Apparently he died on 25th November. Over 3 weeks ago.
It was his son Edward who was credited with transforming the business in the 80s and 90s.

I went to visit my sister about 20 years ago when her kids were young. I had dozed off as we were driving down the M1 but then my niece suddenly shouted out EDDIE STOBART. I woke with a start! A few moments later my nephew shouted NORBERT DENTRESSANGLE. This happened again every few minutes. Eventually, I asked what they heck they were doing. It turned out to be a game that they played to break the monotony of motorway journeys - whoever saw the most vehicles from their chosen logistics company was the winner!Personally, I was more of a Norbert Dentressangle type of guy.
