I've got a stack of 285mm spokes that I never ended up using as the rim I normally use had been discontinued. I'm finding it difficult to find rim ERD measurements (effective rim diameter) without clicking into each entry in the online shops. Is there anywhere that stores measurements for rims, the same way that some calculators store measurements for popular hubs?

If anyone knows a 32 hole 700C rim suitable for 28-32mm tyres, with an ERD of 590mm or thereabouts, please let me know. It was a Halo Excite-R which had a deep-set spokebed, so maybe some other aero rims might be suitable? Something strong but not too heavy, doesn't have to be race-fast.

Pacenti Forza seem well thought of. Slightly depends what inner rim width you need/prefer.

Wow I would never have found that website, thanks!

Wheelbuilding is the perfect winter Sunday morning activity.

Loch side.

You are in for a hiding unless you start playing around with crossings and hubs.
In my wheelbuilding career, I've catalogued the ERDs of 1058 different rims and only the following with an ERD of 590 show up.

Bontrager RXL Carbon Clincher Front
American Classic CR-350, 24mm deep
American Classic 350
Alexrim 320 Comp
Keep in mind that the last one I measured was 5 years ago, so newer rims may well come in at 590.

PS - I have no idea what this funny framing is about. It started when I pasted form Excel.

Edd's spoke calculator with a Shimano M475 rear disc and average spoke length of 185mm and a 3 cross pattern brought up 590mm, the previous rim I used was 588mm, and there are enough out there I found by googling and on the website linked above that it's not uncommon. The spokebed is kind of double level, so the nipples disappear under the outer level where the tube sits, rather than sitting proud under the rim tape.

The spoke always rests on the spoke bed rather than the tube bed, unless it is a single-wall rim.

What do yo mean by "rear disc"?

185mm? No way. That's either a tricycle or a very, very deep section rim.

Sorry, 285mm, as per the original post.

It's a rear disc brake hub, think that just means that the hub is slightly more offset in the rim than a normal hub which is more centred, when looking down on the wheel from the top.

You can go +/- 1mm, more if the existing spokes are obviously too long or too short. Just make sure you err in the right direction!

Thanks for the tips, I managed to find another Halo rim with the same ERD, it's probably the same rim updated and under a different name. I also found another set of spokes of a different length so I might be building a front wheel too if I can find a rim that fits!
