Riding with frequent pauses

I recently read about a technique of riding where you pause every so often - say 10 minutes - and rest for say 30 seconds. I believe the idea is that this approach matches the "natural" behaviour of our hunting ancestors. Does anyone know what this is known as, or where I can read more about it?

I think its call "free-wheeling", although our "hunting ancestors" hadnt yet invented the bike. :okay:

Interesting point.
I went on a navigation course last year and the instructor; a very experienced man of many years standing, pointed out that many folk take too long a step when out walking and this causes your upper body to subtly tilt back & forth to compensate.
He reckons that by taking shorter steps it eliminates this happening.
Thoughts - ?

Apparently it worked for this guy.

Probably somewhat mimics how i ride. Frequently stopping to take photos.

I can confirm this accidentally practised technique hasn’t yet turned me into a Tour Winning saddle monster…….

Yes, I think so. I have started to try it out on my smart trainer. I used to stand on the pedals every 10 minutes while increasing my power output, to give my suffering backside a chance to recover, but this could be better overall. And never stopping is one of the ways in which trainer riding is harder than on the road, so why not make it easier if there is no significant loss of performance?
