Riding sustained only by ale. And pies and that.

I'd like to give it a go in the summer. It would have to be a good long ride and the idea is that the only drink allowable would be ale. From a pub.

I'm not some real ale enthusiast type. I just worked out that if I drank only Belgian beer brewed by monks I'd get pissed and fall off.

I reckon it'd be possible to stay hydrated, and yet sober enough to ride all day.

But I haven't tried it so I can't be sure. Somewhere flat and with little traffic would be ideal to try it out. I'm thinking Norfolk.

I was doing a 70 miler a couple of summers ago... taking all day, no rush... stoped at 50, had 2 pints... those last 20 miles were murder :smile:

I,ve done something similar on a 60th birthday walk with a pint in 6 pubs but cycling, I'm not sure. I've think I've only ever done 3 pints on a bike ride. I'm game to give it a try if you need company:biggrin:

Trouble is, when I think of something like this I always end up trying it.

I must learn to think of things to do which are very much more dangerous. That stops me every time.

The Essex/Suffolk border area would be a good bet. Quiet country lanes and good beer: Greene King, Tolly Cobbold, Adnams etc.

I couldn't do it.

Isn't it Hash House Harriers who do pub crawls on the run?

Whenever I do any kind of endurance event I find the letter P to be the most useful when considering food.

Porridge
Pasta
Pesto
Peanuts
Pies
Pasties
Pints
Pickled onions

The letter P is a food group all of it's own:biggrin:
Now wait for the P-fairy to pay you a visit when you're out riding...
