I significantly exceed the Brompton weight limit, but that's not what bothers me as I do on many bikes and never broke one yet.

The diddy Bromptons are simply disconcertingly felixible with my weight about, more akin to a cross trainer than a bicycle. Looking down and watching the flame flexing when I pour on the grunt is inefficient and disconcerting. It's not nice.

I wouldn't expect a G line to be too flighty as it's an all-rounder with much lauded - by Brompton - rough stuff capacity, so it's not likely to feel as lithe. In any case, if I want to zip along bike-bike-fast on a folder I've already got arguably the best folder there is with the ID9.

That was happening with the G there is still flex, i think because of the folding i don't think its going to ever feel completely solid, but that is part of the brommie charm to me

That's why I want to have a spin before dropping money on one, see for myself. I've been nagging for a 20" Brompton for ages and do want one, but not if it's still deficient in that regard. I might be mad, but not completely insane enough to drop 2 and a half large on any bike that I've not ridden first.

Halfords can punt out well made, fast, hydro disc'd folders with solid frames for pennies. That Brompton find that difficult isn't charm - it's an insult to their customers.

Its a personal choose  the 20inch looks good but the money is a lot

It is a lot, indeed. I can afford it, but I'm not frivolous and won't buy it just for the sake of. I'm going to cock my leg over one first, even if it means a day out in London to do so.

There is some really nice little rides around the area, could be fun day out

With regard to flex and folders, it's part of the deal from my experience.
Have owned a few 20" wheeled folders over the years, and they all had a degree of flex, mostly from the handlebar stem.
The only exception to me is the old Raleigh Stowaway - absolutely no flex, and not that great a fold to be honest.

You want an ID9 Frank. As solid as a porn stars toolbox after a hot mug of viagra.

I'm wary of getting an aly framed folder, due to a previous one I had that broke. No problem with aly on non-folders.
I may well get a proper folder at some stage, but something more traditional. This one looks a bargain over this way

Looks remarkably similar to a Dahon Boardwalk - wouldn't be surprised if made at same factory and re-badged.
Anyways, let's see what Santa brings this year ^_^
