All i can see is a sign that says national park so unless the wooden gate is locked i would use it .

That says "Hams Hall National Distribution Park", not "National Park". I'd use it too though.

I'd think that given there were bypasses for foot traffic around the gate, the no unauthorised access is clearly for motorised vehicles. That and Google Maps lets me route a path through that road, I'd say you were golden "I'm terribly sorry, just following my satnav..."

If it's private access to a home etc I wouldn't use it out of respect, but other than that I wouldn't even think twice about using it, but then again I wander into abandoned land/quarries for fun, so my view point might be slightly skewed.

No idea wether you are allowed down there but by the looks of it plenty of other people have cycled that stretch.

Wait, is that a Bike GPS heatmap? That's amazing! And tells me exactly what I need to know, so thankyou.

Also thanks to everyone else for the thoughts and comments, it's great to get the advice from the pros. All my family think i'm mad for wanting to cycle in and i'm going to get killed by some crazed BMW driver, I plan to prove them wrong! It'll be an Aldi instead.....

No, it's only Strava, but good idea @Jody because it does show it's used by others.

Aldi? A saddle-sore from cheap padded shorts turns septic? ;)

I'm not 100% sure where you are but I was distinctly unimpressed by Warwickshire's continuing 1980s approach to cycling infrastructure a few weeks ago: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/coventry-kenilworth-stoneleigh-coventry.194406/ so I guess what I'm saying is I can understand why your family is unconvinced that the joys of cycling are worth the amount of shoot you must have to deal with. Maybe you can persuade your family down to London for the Freecycle or some other fun and relatively safe cycling opportunity?

Strava heat maps is a really good tool and especially if you ride off road. Perfect for finding new trails.

Use it until someone tells you off. Go another way for a a day or two, then carry on using it. That's what I would do, but then that's as close as rebellious as I get to being these days!
