Sorry to be a bit fick and I get your drift and all, but would a 23-year-old foreign cyclist falling off his bike in his first Tour really make the highlights package?

Genuine question.
Well, I rely on the highlights package and they mentioned him nearly as often as Lance! So yes, it did.

Wow, that does surprise me. I've never seen cycling on UK TV. Is it as well-informed and as knowledgeable as you think it should be?

I've seen cycling on UK Eurosport and the commentary has mainly been reading the local tourist information publicity sheets.

Er...........;)

We've been getting more on free-to-air channels in recent years (ToB, Tour of Ireland, the Tour Series city centre crits) plus the TdF. The main chaps behind the TdF (Imlach, Boulting, Liggett and Sherwen) know their stuff and have been doing the Tour coverage for years. However, the actual pictures that they comment on are a feed from whoever owns the race cameras (I assume it's a French TV channel, or is the Tour organisation itself?) so the extensive coverage of Gesink was a function of that organisation's knowledge rather than a deliberate choice by 'our' boys. Having said that, I'd be surprised if Gesink didn't merit a mention as he is clearly a rider with a bright future.

On the subject of spoilers, anyone who comes into Racing without having seen the race live or highlights and then complains about someone mentioning something they did not want to know is a bit of a twat IMO.

If you do not want to know stay away.

Um, I come in here during the day (mainly so that I can carry on feudin' with the fanboys...) and I rely on the *spoiler* tag to avoid seeing things that might upset me. It's a tried and tested solution.

If you want to call me a twat I'll bite yer wee Angus. B)

If you click on the main page of the forum and scan down the forum topics. the most recent thread in any section is there for all to see.
This thread title for example I saw before i saw the highlights show i intended to watch.

The thread title needed to be changed.

The other alternative is people don't come onto CC at all for risk of seeing a revealing title thread.

Well, don't scan down the forum topics then!

Makes much more sense than reading thread like this and not having a bloody clue which rider we are speaking about!

**fingers crossed** Let it be Lance *fingers uncrossed**:biggrin:
