Autsch, that was close. Good call nonetheless. Thought he had it when the others behind him fooled around. Excellent race anyway. Really enjoyed it. Great action.

I ran out of things to keep me from watching, and I'm glad I did - this is what commentary should be like, and having Millar out on the course is a great idea. Well done BBC.

Shock horror - @Marmion suddenly not curmudgeon surprise shocker!

I thought that was a good race, certainly after BMC lit it up on Box Hill. Having Millar on a bike was great.

I still think ITV are missing a trick by going to P&P when the US etc. coverage starts. The Imlach / Boulting / Boardman commentary early in a stage is always better.

I don't think the Surrey Classic coverage was without its issues - poor choice of shots, appearing not to have camera motos in the right place, lack of information as to what's going on at times - but I think some of this is the result of no race radio / no information from organisers, and is the same as we saw in previous Surrey Classics and the 2012 road race coverage.

Imaging what could be done with ASO / TdF levels of coverage, full race information, a good anchor team, expert commentators, Millar (et al?) out on motos, full information from on-bike GPS and data gathering, on bike cameras transmitting live, etc...

Imagine the TDF on a separate BBC channel in HD with Boardman, Millar et al......

More chance of getting women's pro cycling on an equal level with men's, I reckon.

I considered that, but not being female I was caught in a dilemma and lost...

And the dream includes putting women's pro cycling on a par with men's.

Odd seeing Wiggo not in Sky kit!

Odd seeing Wiggo there at all considering even he admits he's useless on the road now he's concentrating on the track. Anyone know if he got a hefty appearance fee because I can't think of any other reason why he'd turn up just to embarrass himself?

Using it as a training ride, plus showing the flag for his team. I suspect he probably wouldn't feel he was embarrassing himself.
