A lot of the frames are generic. I know the R972 or what ever was exactly the same as the Dedda frame and also a DeRosa.
Was the rear triangle an afterthought, that's one ugly frame.
Just had a look at Ribble's website and they say the bike is a lot cheaper than quoted in the cycle mag. Is this the same bike?
Like a lot of top end bikes marketed to amateurs these days it strikes me as just different for the sake of it.Was the rear triangle an afterthought, that's one ugly frame.
Yes, simple decent bikes for riding along mucky north western lanes. I see a lot of the older ones in those parts.Ribble do seem to of taken a big step away from the more traditional bikes they used to put together.

Planet X isn't much good for bits though. Can't remember seeing a single Shimano bit.
I thought mine was great, it (& I) had no problems keeping up with some of the local triathlon club, even with them on fancy carbon bikes, with 'deep-rim' wheelsYes, simple decent bikes for riding along mucky north western lanes. I see a lot of the older ones in those parts.
Yes - hell I remember (and it wasn't too long ago) when Ribble sold a fair range of decent racks and luggage.

Much of my component buying these days is with those sensible Germans Rose.
I once got a bargain pair of Shimano hubs from PX but their stock and pricing policies are a mystery to me, I also bought some Pacenti rims from them, that were less than half price than any other stockists on the internet, but to go back and buy they same from them at the same price is very unlikely.
They have some real bargains, but as you say they are not a reliable source for mainstream bits and pieces.
That's the same everywhere though. I only now buy jerseys and jackets from retailers who list the size of chest, length of sleeves an back. Sam_cycling on ebay are great for that and specialise in retro clothing. Anything described just as S, M or L is pot luck as to whether it will fit, turn you blue in the face or hang like an aircraft hanger over a Vulcan bomber. As for clothing sizing...………………….
I have 'M' jerseys that would fit over one of my fleece jackets, conversely I have a 'L' jersey, that I struggle to get a long-sleeve tshirt under!!
