I would say that quite a lot of Polari terms have entered the mainstream, having read through the terms on the link there. As I understand it, that was the original motivation for the whole business. A similar language emerged among gay men during the pre-legalisation era. A couple of characters in a radio comedy series - Julian & Sandy, in Round the Horne - introduced it to the wider world, and a few Polari terms have entered the mainstream, though the 'parent language' has now completely died out, being no longer needed.
when I was young free and single and very naive I met a girl one night, who... as we got to know each other better winked at me, smiled and said "harry monk on the boat race" to this day I'll not sure what she meant.....I always thought she was hinting that she had a boyfriend who was a rower.....who knows....
Is that the bow bells of is it from st mary le bow on cheapside .My mother, bless her. Was a true cockney. Born in Bromley By Bow within the sound of the Bow Bells. She had a good turn of Cockney slang.

Have heard several versions
that's what I thought as well.AFAIK, the original Bow Bells was indeed the set on Cheapside - there are an awful lot of them (12 if memory serves) and they are in London. Back in the day, Bow in Tower Hamlets was just a little village outside the city.
