rethreading the threads on the cranks which accept the pedals?

You can re-tap damaged threads, but if they've been fully stripped, I'd not give much for their chances.

if they're just a bit mucky, then old pedals with a groove ground out could work.
unless they're very expensive cranks, i can't see the point?

just destroyed the top mm of thread when getting a stiff pedal out of my hack/commuter/winter trainer.

may look for new cranks then I guess if re-tapping is expensive

Can you put a pedal in from the back? I just wonder if it might re-tap the last thread if the crank is alloy and the pedal spindle is steel.

+1 (But dont forget to take it back out and put it in the correct side afterwards )
Seriously tho...that'd be my first suggestion

I know this works perfectly if you have damaged the intial couple of threads on the proper side of the cranks. Threading a pedal from the wrong side all the way through recuts the damaged threads

Shouldn't as will1985 said provided the pedal spindle is steel and the crank is alloy, the steel should cut through the alloy pretty easy.

Really speaking threading the pedal from the wrong side only rehapes the squashed threads (or did in my case ) that i had cross threaded, but the only thing i'm worried about is i cannot remember if to do this you have to use the opposite side pedal to do this, please let somebody confirm which pedal you use before you try

the LH pedal is LH thread.

an option is to use helicoil - google it - but it may be cheaper to buy new crank(s) since I reckon the thread may be unusual size.

If trying to re-thread the right-hand crank-arm, thread the right-hand pedal into the rear (frame side) of the crank-arm. If trying to re-thread the left-hand crank-arm, thread the left-hand pedal into the rear (frame side) of the crank-arm.
