I’m not silly enough to think that this is a proper vintage but just paid £25 for this with the idea of me and my lad doing it up while home schooling and hopefully having a bit of fun and learning stuff. It says made in Hungary...any knowledge/tips out these (apart from finding the closest skip!). Especially about freeing seized parts and cleaning off rust or restoring chrome (if it’s possible at all!). TBH I’m kind of all for just cleaning it,making it rideable and just going for it!

That’s rather nice and for twenty five notes you can’t complain. You certainly won’t see another one unless you take a trip to Hungary.
Wire wool and vinegar for the rusty chrome (don’t take ‘er indoors best balsamic) and just clean and polish the rest. New cable inners and outer’s all around and maybe new tyres/tubes and you should be done.

What is Autosol??? Sorry for being thick
It’s a chrome cleaner ostensibly for cars but don’t tell anyone you can use toothpaste instead.

I hate to tell you but I think it is vintage.

It's a nice bike to learn on, and will keep you busy for a while.

Most stuff should be reasonably straightforward as long as you ensure that the seatpost and stem are not stuck in the frame, and you can get the cottered cranks off.

Doing it up with your lad will make excellent memories.

I would get rid of that bike stand.
Agree with the suggested use of aluminium foil - scrunch it up and spit on it for lubrication:okay:
Does the handlebar stem have GB written on it?
btw a "drive side" photo would be nice.

Such an interesting bike. This would have been made during the communist era and you can see that had no money to buy in expensive foreign components, everything is made in the country.
The derailleur is a very crude affair maybe copied from a Huret design?
Very odd that that put a nice alloy stem on but the bars are steel. They obviously had no plastics technology so the guards and even the dork disk are from aluminium.
A real time capsule. The rims look too corroded to save so a nice set of alloy rim wheels would be a nice upgrade.

Agree with Cycleops about the wheels, the stem looks very much like a GB "girder" stem that I have although no GB markings on it by the look of things (I think a GB girder would get you your money back on eBay).

I would clean the drop bars and after inspection either wrap cloth tape right up to the stem or replace; https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/cloth-bar-tape-wrapping-tips.215710/

I think that the chain may also need replacing  Thanks for putting up the photos
