When i had my run in with a Stagecoach bus, i just googled their local depot and rang them, explained to the receptionist i wanted to log a complaint, she put me through to someone who took the reg number, who then confirmed it belonged to another depot ...and promptly gave me the number and name to contact.

Very efficient, no fuss, no aggro.
Our experience here has also been positive overall, though we complained via email to the local depot manager. Shortly afterwards we received an aoplogy and written response to let us know the driver had received a warning which would be recorded on his file.

Luckily the majority of Stagecoach drivers on my commute seem pretty courteous and sensible.

Firstly the onus is not on you to let the bus driver out emerging vehicles do not have right of way over moving vehicles it’s one thing that really pees me off when people are over courteous it can cause accidents and puts other motorists in potential danger. What you did was correct I would question the bus drivers motive in that he overtook you too late in doing so also took 3/4 of the opposite side of the road causing the oncoming car to no doubt slow but in order to compensate for his poor manoeuvre has to cut in quickly due to the oncoming car an in the process arguably passes too close. I guess in the eyes of the law he has done nothing wrong but IMO he is guilty of manoeuvring when is not safe to do so. Put it this way I bet he would not have attempted that manoeuvre if he had been taking his test ! Plonker. Let’s hope he learns from it - I have a similar stretch on my commute 1 mile completely straight 60mph chicken run where the car overtaking me then takes the space of the oncoming car causing the oncoming car to slow down and beep their horn and no doubt mimic a few expletives.

I think the bus driver misjudged your speed, thought he had time to pass ... then realised he had to pull back in quick because of the oncoming car (which in itself looks as if it pulled left and slowed).

Get yourself away from the kerb and "own" the lane a bit more.

I generally avoid "A" roads when cycling between towns, but occasionally have to cycle a couple of miles along the A47.
I've had buses pass that close when they're doing 50mph, rather than 25mph. Not a problem if you've already seen their "line" of approach in your mirror.

In fairness I wasn't that close to the kerb until I " felt him " behind , had I been any further out then there would have been one hell of an nasty accident

i wont go off topic with your overtake of bus since thats not what your question was  but imo that bus was close, i dont mind cars (even though just as dangerous) close to me, butthe size of the bus and the draft it creates nearly sends me flying sometimes.

p.s i hate buses with a vengance, on my daily commute even though they have to give way to me they decide to keep on coming forcing me off the road and kurbing me bike, even worse when the streets busy in centre of town :cursing:

Just email them. You have the time, bus no and date. I reported a magicbus (same group) a few years back (as a paying customer) - the driver was so rude. They took it seriously and interviewed him, and sent a email back.

Send it to the head office, Then it will go down through the ranks and will definitely be acted on. Send a paper letter too. This will show you are serious, as emails are easy. Inform them that their reply will dictate your next move, due to the severity of the incident.

Recorded delivery letter addressed to the chairman, write on the envelope and the letter Chairman's complaint. Watch how quick this works with every PLC.

They certainly do not want accidents as it costs them a lot of money, even a small knock is often the bus off the road for repairs and sometimes a ministry inspection.

Here is something you may not know, in 2003 Yorkshire Traction were fined £140,000 for buses leaving the stop early. Drivers are often the weakest part of the company.

On the basis of these two videos I would feel the problem is created by your own road position.
No, no, no & did I mention NO? The problem is created by bad driving bus driver who is solely responsible for initiating an overtake when there was insufficient space to safely complete the manoeuvre. What the driver did would get you a fail in our most basic driving test.

Your apparent position invites the poor overtake by the bus driver.
No, it doesn't invite the poor overtake. A road position further out from the kerb may have discouraged the driver from committing to a dangerous overtake. The flip side of this is the tighter kerb position allows for a safer overtake by a slowly accelerating, low maneuverability & long vehicle in relatively tight conditions.
