You need one of those Dog Fang jobbies, it'll stop that happening ! :whistle:
I've got one on each of my 3 bikes, but it wasn't my bike with the broken chain! ;)

I did point out my Deda Dog Fang to the other riders and explained what it was for. I think I'd still be able to take the tension off the chain even with the Fang fitted.

You use different Powerlinks depending on the chain. There is a Powerlink available for a 7 speed chain.

I know, I wasn't able to get a 7/8sp PowerLink to work with a Shimano 7/8sp chain. The Shimano chain was just slightly too wide (fraction of a mm) and wouldn't allow the PowerLink to close. I didn't want to force it because I doubt it could have been opened again if I did. I solved the problem by getting a SRAM chain.
