I lost the mounting equipment for my Kryptonite D-Lock while moving house and should really get round to replacing it. I've seen that Kryptonite do their own version but it's tricky to get hold of and it's been widely panned in about every review I've read.

Is there an alternative I could buy?

Since nobody else responded, I thought I would let you know that I did look high and low a couple of years ago, and reached exactly the same conclusion as you have. Strange but it seems nothing decent exists that carries it properly on a bike without a rack.

I even found a holster thing some american company sells that lets you wear it on your belt like a gun, and I found a patent some guy dreamt up essentially mounting it on the handlebar/stem turning the lock into a make-shift tri bar. Nope.

I'm intrigued by this method:

DIY Bike Lock Holder

I might be able to tailor it more specifically to my bike. It's not a side-locking D-Lock, but I think I can make some adjustments to that design...

Indeed ime the best way to secure a D lock, if the bike has a rack. HLab I had the Kryptonite one, and it broke just like most reviewers' in you Wiggle link, somehow you must have a good one.

Looks like I'll be investing in a rear rack soon then...

Bloody expensive aren't they, these D-Locks! ;)
