Aksiums don't have a weight limit. You naughty person.

I have Aksiums and base level Ksyriums Equipe wheels. Both rather good, but I still prefer my hand builds.

Don't forget, many of these super light wheels use super light hubs where the weight does not matter. Weight is important at the rim and to some extent spokes. Aero spokes aren't light.

Good hand guilts on bomb proof hubs would perform much the same as some more expensive wheels, but they don't quote rim weight on factory wheels.... Hand builds are easier to get spares.

Thanks for all the replies, reguarding fitness,im around 13 stone,6ft and pretty fit so that isnt really a major issue
I ride everyday in a moderately hilly area around 15-20 miles which ive been doing for about 8 years and was proposing a lighter wheelset to counter some of the longer inclines i do occasionally
I recently put Schwalbe Durano plus 23s on but having taken the advice here i'll stick to my present set up until i can get the disposable cash to upgrade as i probably wouldnt be saving a great deal of weight on the budget i have in mind which would probably be about 100 maximum
Thanks everyone

£100 would get you a set of shimano r501's which would still be lighter and better than the giant wheels.

Or just getting better tyres and tubes. Significantly more noticeable improvement for a fraction of the cost. The R501s will not be noticeably different to the stock wheels.

What would you recommend on a Hybrid ? I use the M+ which weigh a lot but are coming up for replacement. I would like to go back to something lighter now I am comfortable changing tyres and tubes.

Are you saying you became comfortable changing tyres and tubes while riding M+?

I don't have any tyres wider than 23mm or MTB.

I'd recommend some 28c on a hybrid, possibly what ever continentals you can get. Each tyre will be at least a third of the weight of a marathon.

Marathon Supreme are my most favourite 'wide' tyre now, had a pair on the CX for the last 12 months or so doing over 3000 miles on the crappy streets and trails of Manchester.
Have just ordered another pair so I have some 'in stock' for when they eventually need replacing (no sign yet)

From the bikeradar site, panesars and rubinos pro appear to be good choices. There are also the ribimo? tires.

Hehe I have Vittoria Rubino's on the Roadie - Just bought another set.
The M+ on the Hybrid I might just keep on for as long as possible - Winter will be here soon anyway !
