I am having issues with chain slipping and suspect the chain and cassette are ready for replacing. Do I go like for like or upgrade to better components. The Cassette is a Shimano HG30 11x32 which are about £13 and the chain is a KMC Z99 which is around £9 for the equivalent. Some cassettes mention narrow chain compatible?

Stick with what you've got unless you want to save a few grams weight and have a more shiney finish. The better ones don't last any longer.

Not much info there! If you're happy with how the originals have lasted, then like for like. If not then upgrade.

Like for like it is then, Halfords checked the chain today (yes, I know) and said its 75% worn. The only 9 speed they had in store was a SRAM for £30. Bit pricey.

Excellent service from Chain Reaction, ordered chain and cassette Sunday evening and both arrived this morning, free P and P as well. Fitted both and went for a quick try out before I cycle to work this after noon. No slipping so far and the bike felt good again. Happy bunny.
