Removing a stuck freewheel

Fit the tool into the splines in the freewheel and replace the axle nut or quick release skewer and hand-tighten. This prevents the tool from slipping from the splines under load.
Put the tool in a vice and grabbing opposite edges of the wheel turn the wheel anti-clockwise. If it doesn't move have someone assist by grasping the wheel at 90 degrees to you and then both of you let rip on it. Undo just a quarter turn and then back off the axle nut or QR skewer. If the vise fails replace it with a decent one. If the tool fails replace it with a decent one. If the wheel fails throw the whole thing away. If the freewheel fails take it apart on the wheel (undo the two pin lock ring clockwise) and take it down to the 'block'. And then put the block itself in the vise. Don't tighten the vise more than necessary at this stage, it's easy to deform it so that it tightens on even tighter to the hub thread. Or even crush the hub. Enjoy watching 7000 tiny greasy ball bearings disappear to every corner of the room.

I got it sorted

I had tried giving the spanner on the freewheel a couple of sharp blows with a hammer while trying to hold the wheel steady with my feet with no success . I then put the wheel in a upright position against the step of a concrete stairs which was like holding the wheel in a bench vice then gave the spanner a couple of sharp blows with the hammer again and the freewheel came of no problem strange but true

Shock treatment often works for these things.

Page one of how to be a mechanic - If something can't be fixed with a hammer and WD40, it's probably best to buy a new one

Take the freewheel to bits then you can really get plus gas/heat to the bit that is stuck, keep putting plus gas on every couple of hours and maybe a bit of fire on it.
Got two of them off like this earlier this year, cleaned them up put them all back togeather again refitted them using copper grease running sweet as now, take them off every 3 months or so just to be sure they aint stuck again.
