That's what I've done, I got a replace to for under a tenner.

A helicoil would need to be drilled out at 5.4mm from memory and then tapped, so another .4mm per side, there will be plenty of material in there for helicoiling, .

a quick google shows it is 5.2 mm plus some metal is removed when tapping the hole, major diameter being 6.145 mm..... so less than I expected.

how would you fit the helicoil insert since it is being inserted from the opposite side ?
