Try and avoid bright yellow clothes too [ok sorry to the I like to be invisible brigade]. It seems to attract the tiny blackflies.

Whilst sitting at the roadside after getting knocked off last week my wife pointed out that two ladybirds had landed on the shoulder of my bright yellow jacket.
