We stopped mid-shopping to observe the 11am silence, which was commendably well observed in Poundland.

We will attend the remembrance service in the morning, as we have done every year since we moved here, then lunch and round to the pub where our "choir" will be singing in the afternoon.

In the evening, there is a folk night at the same pub, so I will play. I may do my song about a local "thankful village", one of the 50 or so places where everyone who went to WW1 from that place came back alive. It will be an antidote to all the anticipated songs of death and destruction......

I was at Xaverian College in Manchester this morning for my little girl's taster day, she wants to go there next year. They had a minute's silence at 11:00 whilst the college band played The Last Post.

Tomorrow I'm running the Tatton Park half marathon, it starts at 09:00 so I'll hopefully be finished for 11:00.

My two will be marching with Guides and Beavers. I will be rushing around trying to get photographs for their mother who is ill at the moment. I will then be trying to warm them up with the ride home. If they have been good it might involve a cafe stop for cake.

We had our village Armistice Day service this Saturday 11th morning on the Village Green. Last post, Silence, Wreath laying and readings plus a hymn all led by Father Terry our Parish Priest, nice chap. Good turnout for that as usual. Tomorrow our Parish Church includes an Act of Remembrance during the morning mass.

Is it a rise in nationalism? but remembrance seems to be more noticeable this year, just come through the next village & they have large poppies fastened to the lamp posts, never seen that before, it also seems to have more prominence in the news & elsewhere.

The villages in the Hinckley &Bosworth area have the poppies attached to posts.
If I am cycling Sunday I will probably time my ride to bein Market Bosworth for the parade.

I spent much of my formative years marching to the war memorial first with the boys brigade brass band then as a drummer with the local pipe band. I'll go down to our local memorial, just to make sure standards haven't slipped. I do feel there should be more support for those ex-service personnel who need it.

I'e been invited to March with our local army cadets tomorrow, I start volunteering with them on Monday night.

The last time I took Mart in the parade was as a cadet 15 years ago. I hope I can stay in time

I'm not sure who's laying their Wreath yet but at the moment, it's downstairs on the dining-room table

Not sure what happens in other towns/cities. but the Ambulance service/Fire service, are amongst the others that lay wreaths
(I generally know the Paramedics, even though they may be in a 'dress uniform')

I’ll be out for a ride in the morning, hopefully, and aim to be in Northampton town centre by 10:30 to watch the parade, and observe the silence at 11:00.
