I disagree with the "expensive" comment regarding Vespas and LML's, what about residual values? They are rock solid, buy right and they might even make you money. Factor in the availability of very cheap, easily sourced spares, their simplistic build and I don't believe there is a "cheaper" scooter to own and run.
I have had a 2003 Yamaha Majesty 125, I don't like using my Vespa in rain, it was excellent but any spares cost a fortune, Yam disc £40, Vespa pads, £5, Yam exhaust £160, Vespa £40 and so on. Plus, I 'd have paid good money just to make the shame I felt riding it go away.
Personally, would not be seen dead on anything but steel bodied scoot ever again.
