Spoke to Pearsons - chap in pro shop reckons I would benefit from a narrower and shallower bar (38cm) as, having measured my shoulders, he thinks I am probably rolling my wrists in causing the tendonitis - this could get expensive as I have two roadbikes - including a Pearson that has a 42cm bar  (the Giant is a 40cm)

So will change the bars and hence tape on the Giant in the first instance I guess

A good handlebar setup should be comfy enough to ride without gloves. You want bars that about as wide as your shoulders (measure centre to centre). If you are willing to spend a bit more, bars with a wing/thick top can be comfier to grip. Bar tape is personal - but the common ones such as BG phat tape are common for a reason, people like them. You can also double wrap the bars in places if you wish.

Bars can be picked up relatively cheaply for £20ish on the right websites

I wear gloves for protection in case of a fall as much as anything. Giant store are going to do me 38cm bar for £30 and a 3mm fizik tape in a lovely silver

You can get gel insoles from cheapo shoe-shops, or from Aldi/Lidl. I got some from Diechmann for £1.99 IIRC. Cut into the right shapes, and Bob's your nunc innit?
