Hol den Vorschlaghammer!
Location
Derby.
In the North East theres also an Evans and a halfords at the Arnison centre in Durham.
For commuting I'd always recommend mudguards and a rack as standard kit.. Im a big fan of hub gears and dynamo lights for hassle free all year/weather commuting.

Other than that what is best for you depends on terrain, surface etc

The Cube Town seems to tick all of those boxes (but does cost about £579), whereas the Touring City costs £479 but makes do with Shimano Tourney derailleurs.

There is also infinty cycles in durham which is also a cube dealer

Single speed bikes are fantastic for short flat commutes IMO. Relatively low maintenance, and do the job well:thumbsup:

You get a lot of spec on the b'twin bikes at decathlon.... Husband got his first bike there through a scheme. Readily available parts and accessories too

Single speeds are the bike of choice if you have tatted yourself up, love skinny jeans and facial hair that takes you over an hour a week to ponder.

If you don't live in Holland but do live in the UK and value your knees and hips in the long term I'd suggest getting a hybrid with gears, large tyres, rack and mudguard bosses.

700c wheels - no suspension as it will just slow you down. Even with the joke potholed roads of the UK it is pointless for 90% of riders unless you actually intend to ride off road seriously.

I thoroughly recommend Scott Sub hybrids from 2010 onwards with actual gears - NOT rear internal hubs. Their range increases in spec whilst decreasing in model number. E.G - A Scott Sub 10 is their top of the range and the Scott Sub 30 is the "entry" level but still excellent.

You can pick up a decent Sub 30 from around £150 for a 2010 and a Sub 20 with discs from 2013 for around £330 used.

I have been through a few Scott hybrids since getting into cycling and now have a 20 2013 disc and IMO they are the ultimate commuter bikes.

Hope this helps

Or if you don't want to have to constantly have to straighten up rear mechs etc. due to idiots crunching your bike whilst it's 'racked'.
