Rechargeables for Hope 1

I just took advantage of wiggles 27% reduction and ordered a Hope 1 for £63.
All my other lights use AAA batteries so I'll be needing AAs for the Hope.
Noting the warning in the description about not all rechargeable AA batteries being up to the demands of the Hope, I thought I'd ask which batteries other forumites have had good or bad experiences with.
I won't then waste cash on ones that aren't up to it.

I use the Energizer ones that are 2450 and available from Argos/Tesco they have been great in mine, tried some supposedly higher powered Duracell ones which were nowhere near as good.

Panasonic Infinium 2100's (hybrid) - been using these for almost 2 years - hold charge well, and no sign of degrading.

Vapextech 2900mah were the ones recommended to me by quite a few people on here when I asked this question earlier in the winter. I bought 2 packs for about £12 and they've been amazing.

Sanyo Eneloops. These hybrids are a relatively modest 2000mAh but they come from a reputable manufacturer and have worked well for the last 18 months. I have quite a few for use in the camera etc etc as well as the Hope 1 and the Cateye back light.

I've tried plenty of batteries in the hope and they've all been fine. Things that perform best though... probably vapex (I don't own eneloop).

+1 for Vapex. Cracking 2900mah batteries and the price doesn't make your eyes bleed.

Just wondering how long the batteries last for you guys? I'm using maplins 2700s in my Hope 1 and probably get less than an hour on full brightness. Is this normal? Would better batteries last longer?

When I used new Duracell in mine I got 3-4 hours on full. Never needed to use it on full for a while i.e. when used on rechargeables

I found that using 2100 hybrids (which I got from Lidl) has been more effective than 2700 or 2900 rechargables. The hybrids seem to last just as long, and don't degrade over the summer months in the same way as others do.

Buy a decent charger was the best advice cyclechat gave me.

I get a lot longer than that on my maplin rechargeables. Sounds like you need to do a few discharge/charge recycles to get them back up to normal.

I think that's a good point worth repeating. I heavily use my lights at all times of year, although the vapex 2900s are indeed excellent quite a few people do have gaps in their use and LSD would be more suitable for some people in this scenario.
