In most of those sections, the NCN 1 marking hides the Rebellion Way marking on most OSM renderings, only leaving "Rebel" or "RW" visible next to the NCN 1 line.
This is mainly what I noticed. NCN1 and RW seems to join and separate in multiple places including (for example) in Norwich City centre. I just wondered if that was a source of the potential error you noted in post #10.

I've not studied as closely as you have and I am not as familiar with some of the route to the west of the county. I'll need to do a bit more research and glean some more local knowledge. I suppose it might be fun to then try some smaller sections of the route to check them out before undertaking the entire route.

@VinSumRox it will be interesting to hear your experiences when you take on the route. Maybe an opportunity for us to add to this thread regularly?

Looked at various YT clips and some people moan about some bits being overgrown and almost impassable in summer due to vegetation.
Yeah, car-brained NCC seem to have given up trying to enforce landowners keeping their hedges off the bridleways and byways.

Looking at doing it solo at some stage using various campsites along the way. Looking at missing Norwich out, hate city roads.
The question when missing Norwich out is how to cross the River Yare? There's no bridge between Norwich and Yarmouth, and Reedham Ferry (near the north end of RR31) is a quite a detour off the Rebellion Way.

You could minimise your time in Norwich by continuing straight ahead on Plumstead Road until its library, then following the "Purple" route signs when they turn left until you rejoin the Rebellion Way as it leaves the city on the other bank of the river, but then you would miss Kett's rebellion, one of those the route is named after and maybe amongst its most appropriate, rebelling against land being closed off!

There is an alternative "trike & trailer" version of the route (from the CTC/CUK) which might be a bit less demanding surface wise (but I've not done either

https://www.cyclinguk.org/routes/rebellion-way-trike-and-trailer-alternative-route

I live near the route and some of my walks take me on short sections and I'd want something pretty robust if carrying camping gear and even if just carrying credit cards I'd still not want a road bike.

But does OP want to cycle every inch of the"official route" or just enjoy the spirit of the route choosing more suitable alternatives for their gear?

We are thinking of the whole route, but happy to divert to more interesting bits, just deciding whether to bring road bikes or mtbs (with gravel tyres) , can bikepack with either.

That sounds similar to the King Alfred's Way, some tracks were well overgrown.
