I like the castelli range and will most likely buy some although don't think I'll be paying those prices just for the commute would rather the budget stuff of a good quality and the more expensive kit for the longer rides I think.

Worth trying Decathlon (there is one at Braehead) they usually have decent kit for reasonable prices plus you can try on before buying

I have been advised to go for the dhb shorts by a friend who says they are good for the price. I have tried other brands on in shops and I think my jean size must be out as my tape measure says other wise. is it better to have them a little bit bigger than small ?

Bib shorts are usually best sized by height rather than waist. When trying on in a shop then a good guide for bibs is that the bib part should feel a bit too tight around the shoulders when standing up, if you then bend over to mimic a riding position they will then feel comfortable.

Another vote for Wiggle's DHB range from me - quality, cheap and the bibs have survived my idiocy at a couple of damp roundabouts (my skin was less fortunate).

Check out my two Tenn Clothing posts! there is some great feedback and the kit is cheap as chips. I am waiting on mine so I cant comment but the feedback is excellent! I commute in mainly aldi gear. avoid sports direct though. If money was no option it would be castelli all the way!

I'm a bit of an Aldi cyclist, mainly because I have one very near work and can snap up their stuff. Very pleased with the recent bibshorts £12 and basic jersey £8 or so.

I took the plunge and purchased a pair of the dhb cycle shorts in a size I believe is correct ( tbh if they are too big or too small at the price they were I can order another size ) to get me going. wished I had them at my cardio rehab as the bike seats are brutal

I do like the aldi shorts but not a fan of the tops as you can see all the stitching I know it's picky but just don't like them.
