hi there im after some advise regarding my specialized sectur road bike, iv covered approx 1300 miles on my bike from new and now the chain keeps going slack and i dont think its the derailer arm attached to to back wheel? not a lot to go on but any ideas
i have kept the bike in good condition and well oiled etc.

Is the jockey cage springing back ok to take up the slack?

If the chain goes slack on the top run when you are freewheeling, that means that the freehub is not freehubbing anymore.
Life the bike up or have someone lift the rear wheel for you. Now pedal (by hand) and let go. You'll quickly see that the freewheel still turns and thows chain onto the chainstay. Have the freewheel seen to.

I thought I would give you a shot with the slack joke. That was really more for the op, but I knew it was coming.
A lot of people confuse a worn chain symptoms with being a "slack" chain.

Your comments may be well meaning or indeed, as you say, facetious, but that doesn't help someone posing a question in a technical forum such as this one. I have never heard anyone refer to worn chain problems as a slack chain. Never, even after searching on this forum for "slack chain."

@OP, your problem has nothing to do with worn chains.
