Hello.

My bike has been worked a little hard lately and my rear wheel is playing up and I suspect it's just a case of dismantle lube reassemble but My living with my living conditions for the next couple of weeks don't allow me the proper space to or the time do myself, so although I imagine I could do it myself was going to let bike shop do it and was wondering what the going rate as the shops I spoke to range between 15-30 quid not huge money I know but can't work out why it would cost somebody twice as much as the other,

Thanks for any help

Depends what the problem is and what needs replacing and how long it will take. You don't say what the problem may be.

Not sure what LBS charges to rebuild a wheel but the important thing to ask is to balance the spoke tension or you might end up with more problems than you started with.

Sorry I was not very clear before, the wheel is not spinning very well and I think the problem is inn the bearings.

Thanks so far guys

It may just be that your wheel cones have tightened up. You can loosen this easily: LH side only, free the lock nut and then loosen the cone slightly. What you need is a small sideways movement at the rim, just a little. When re-tightening the lock nut, it will often tighten the cone a bit further, so check again for movement. You may find it needs redoing a few times to get right. If this frees up the spinning, then you have solved the problem.

On closer inspection I thinks it's the freewheel "sigh" and on far to tight to pay for a part and to have it fitted so I'm going to try get it Apart tonight have a proper look and source a new freewheel if that the case ( any suggestions on online retailers accepted ) and fit it myself.

You been proper helpfull cheers
