Hello all,
Got a quick question. Never had any problem with this before, but I recently replaced my allen-key rear skewer because the allen key hole was becoming so worn that it wouldn't be long before it was just a circle.
First problem was I couldn't find a long enough skewer - I have 140mm wheel spacing, plus I need a little bit more for the reelights which go in between the skewer bolt and the frame. I got regular size skewers but became a bit worried when I saw that the skewer screw part only made it about 4mm into the nut part.
I replaced these with the original quick-release skewers that came with my bike. When I took out the allen key one I had recently bought, I noticed that it was bent slightly. Also when I tightened up the QR one to the max, the wheel makes a "ker-clunk" sound as it is going round. I had to loosen it a little to stop the sound.
Should I be worried about this? Or was I just tightening the skewer too much?
