The Front light is indeed very bright on it's brightest setting and the rear does have a saddle rail mount as well as the normal seat post rubber type mount option.

having a quick look on Planet X, I found THIS light
That's the old version Moon Comet*.
It's good for random mounting (eg to clothing or a bag) as it's not very directional and is bright even if it's not pointing straight back, unlike things like the Smart R1.
As stated, it does best with fairly frequent charging.

* hazarding a guess, Moon gave the contract for version 2 to a different factory in China, so the original factory had nothing to lose if they just carried on making them.

I reckon that's not a bad guess. Such scenarios have happened quite regularly with astronomy eyepieces (my now second most expensive hobby...) especially when "The Brand" was less than tight with rights issues and the OEM was the one who paid for and owns the expensive tooling.

Experience in that sphere has also shown that despite initial objections to that happenstance, you very seldom find the original OEM downspecs anything, so there's little risk involved. Even if they did, you can often afford to buy two with the saving offered, which only goes to show how much "The Brand" was factoring in as profit.

I'd expect that the main thing that is downspecced is the quality control, since there's no brand to be damaged by duff products.
How much risk that involves for the end user will obviously vary quite a lot depending on what the product is.
(not much in the case of these lights)

Another one for the Bleep light from Planet X. Wait for a sale, pick up 4 for £10 including postage if you time it right. Some rechargeable AAAs and Bob is the relative of your choice in the 21st century.

Looks a lot like a Moon Comet! The Jobsworth meteor clones look good. Any one got this one?

I don't see how planet x can sell products at this price. So cheap!

Lunar R 1's are good. Sometimes gets water inside but never failed. Just open it and dry it out.NiMh batteries with higher milliamp ratings last for ages...

Got a couple of these as auxillary lights;

https://www.alpkit.com/products/tau.

Been very good so far and have used them on their own on other bikes.

I mostly commute via a pretty busy a-road so this is my main rear light;

Almost the same set up I have. I use the Tracer with a pair of Cateye RapidX as auxiliary lights. If I were buying again I wouldn't hesitate in choosing the same light options.

Unfortunately the TraceR has had to go back as the internals started moving and it's stopped charging;hopefully Sigma will sort it out.

Probably going to get a See Sense Icon rear for the Helium,mostly for it's security app feature.
