My Blackburn Mars has decided to give up the ghost and having a quick look on Planet X, I found THIS light

Anybody have one or recommend another good decent cheapish light?

I have the Aldi version of those and find that the battery life is not great. I have them as a flashing backup & you don't get much warning of when they are about to conk out. Have to recharge them twice a week at least, riding 45 mins into work and 30 mins home 3-4 times per week.

The other rear light I have is an RSP which lasts ages between charges and is very bright. It runs rechargeable AAA batteries so you could put alkaline in if you got in a pickle or ran out of time to charge them. Having said that I really don't know how long they would last on a charge as I recharge the light at least once a week via USB. It's been very reliable.

Jannie and I both use Smart lights. We commute every day, in all weathers and have never had a problem. I watch Jannie ride off every day and I can see her from a very long way off. The light is very bright.

I have read reviews where people have had trouble in the wet with them. We have never had this problem and we have had them for about 4 years.

IMO this is all you need.

Got a couple of these as auxillary lights;

Been very good so far and have used them on their own on other bikes.

I mostly commute via a pretty busy a-road so this is my main rear light;

Lot of money for a light(not as much as a Strada front though:ohmy:^_^) but it is very,very good.

The Alpkit ones above though are pretty good though;in fact I'm going to get a couple of the front ones too as low level lighting on the forks.

Someone else has already mentioned this light, but I too recommend a phaart bleep from Planet X.

One of the best value things I've ever bought - I think I got if for £1.50, but at the moment they are selling them for £3.99. Not exactly expensive.

It's not rechargeable, but I think I get about 1000 miles between changing the two AAA batteries, and I always put the light on, even when riding in daylight.

Just zip tie it to the seatpost (throw the bracket away) and forget about it. Can't see how this product could be improved.

It's very bright too - the only thing I can't vouch for is how it would fare on a bike without mudguards, as the button to turn it on would be in the full force of the water thrown off the tyre. With mudguards, I've had no problems with water getting in whatsoever.

I have a set of these:

Used them for over a year now and very happy with them, very bright and last a decent amount of time (up to 2 hours on a very bright setting)

not exactlly the cheapest lights but worth it IMHO
Not that it will help you, but both of those are on sale at PlanetX under the Jobsworth brand for a total of £25. PX claim the front is 400 lumens though and the rear seems to have a saddle rail mount, which I quite like the look of.
