Rear gear/derailer problemos

Hello. I have a bike. It has some gears.
I have a problem with my lowest gear. I switch down from 2nd to it, and it's fine, then I turn the pedals and it seems to come out of place - the chain doesn't slot into the teeth, it seems to sit on top of the cog, and either continues doing it, sometimes slots back in place after a while, or jerks back up to the 2nd gear.

Any ideas oh mighty folk?

Adjuster screw..... There are two on the rear mech. By low are you talking the biggest sprockets or the smaller sprockets (cos everyone uses different terms)......

sounds like you may need slightly more tension in the cable. not much, mind, as it sounds like it's almost working fine. There should be an adjuster on the shfiter or the mech itself. To increase tension, turn it anticlockwise (that's anticlockwise as you look down the outer towards the mech/shifter)
