Hi,

I was cycling on the turbo when out of nowhere my rear derailleur fell off and the hanger screws seemed stripped so couldn't get it back on.

My bike is a Planet X RT-58 Carbon and on Planet X's website I found a replacement for a Planet X RT-58 Alloy so assumed it would be fine.
Stupidly I threw the old one away to compare but it doesn't seem to fit fight at all.

I'm not sure which hanger would fit correctly.

Thanks for any help!

Doesn't look straight, that's for sure. If it fitted in the space where the hanger is supposed to go and the bolts all lined up, then it's probably correct, but it does look like you need to align the hanger - this is often the case after replacing.

You've not fitted the hanger straight, I can see a gap where the 'tab' on the hanger should slot into the space on the frame dropout. Also the hanger may not be compatible - you 'may' have to get the dremmel out on the 'tab'.

If the bolts line up, then as Fossyant says: Dremel or file.

I can't get a better picture right now but this is one I took yesterday -

To me when I was fitting it, it felt like it the whole hanger was the mirror image of what it needed to be if that makes sense.

Weird that your hanger fell off by itself in the first place.

There's no guarantee that you have the right hanger. I'd email planet X or ring them.

Yep, that's definitely the wrong derailleur hangar. Now I've seen from the side with no wheel, the indent which sits inside the frame should be on the other side and line up with the frame itself, everything should be flush as per the photos in the link @bikingdad90 posted.

It looks like the alloy frame mounts the hanger on the outside of the frame whereas the carbon frame mounts the hanger on the inside of the frame. Pure chance that the alloy one will even bolt up to the carbon frame. Some evidence that Wheels Mfg make the CNC hanger for P-X but you really could do with the old one to compare.

I've actually managed to find the old one and Planet X have also replied to me!

Here's the old one -

And yeah planet X said about Wheels MFG and said this was the right one - https://www.bikeparts.co.uk/product...ZeouF6ZgtmbGDK_zZ4yT5s63UBUtmtrRoCS8EQAvD_BwE
