I'm hoping not many folks near me are wanting a bike repair stand as Lidl never have many in. I might even nip in Wed. night as they sometimes put stuff out near the end of the day for tomorrow  .

The Lidl ones look good actually. I managed without a workstand for years but what a difference one makes, single best bike maintenace buy.

Yeah it's really good tbh

I indexed my gears tonight in about 2 mins - as opposed to loads of faffing/guessing/getting it wrong

I'm just worried I'll over tighten it - any tips?

Do NOT clamp the frame. Especially if it's carbon. Clamp the seat post.

The seat post will be a constant thickness. The tubes are thinner in the middle so you'll be putting a whole load of undue pressure on it. Ask any mechanic - NEVER clamp the frame.

Nice looking work stand there from Lidl and just what I think I need, I will see if I can nab a lift to the one in Middlewich tomorrow to pick one up as it looks to big to carry back on the bike!

I must also invest in a decent set of tools for fettling with the bike, those multi-allen key things and a "bike spanner" don't really cut the mustard IMO.

I bought a cheap tool kit some eleven years ago when I returned to cycling. Eventually I replaced some worn items, the Allen Keys didn't last too long, and bought extra tools including a folding bike stand. Now the only job I'm not equipped for and not skilled enough to tackle is wheel building, although I can replace spokes and re-true a wheel.

Most of the original tools are still good but whenever I've replaced worn ones I've bought good quality items.
